It would help to know what you intend to use the D. magna for. D. magna, like other Daphnia species, is very useful in a variety of settings. They are easy to culture, will remove unwanted algae from a fish tank, and have consistent reactions to toxins which makes them useful in toxicology studies. They are small enough to be used as food for many of the smallest fish. D. magna does not have a significant drawback.
