With my new rearsets, after I use the rear brake is doesn't return to the topmost position. It only comes back up 5/6s of the way. Is this normal? I'm worried the rear brake is dragging, even though it doesn't feel like it is.

suzuki gsxr... there is no spring, just the rod that connects to the master cylinder. can someone explain why lengthening the master cylinder rod will make the pedal return more easily?

Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.
Some bikes have an adjuster on the rod that goes from the brake pedal into the master cylinder.
You might have a cheap set of rear-sets that weren't made properly for you bike.
Or you may have rear-sets for a different year model of your bike.

It could just be an adjustment problem or you may have to get a stronger spring. If your rear brakes are dragging you should be able to ride it a couple of miles and then feel the rear brake area (drum or calaper) and if it is extremely hot then they are dragging

Maybe the linkage (rod) going from the pedal to the master cylinder needs adjusting (lengthening). Or, if there's a torsion spring, maybe it needs another turn to preload it.
