I have used ant killer on the ones that I see but then more keep turning up. The problems getting so bad that the birds are flying down to eat them. If I block the holes in the wall (they are just below the windowframe) will they find other ways out, I don't want them to start coming from the walls on the inside. Any suggestions ?

I live in Lincolnshire and we're having some sort of epidemic. I thought it was just my house that had ant problems but the more I speak yo people, I find that everyone is feeling it.

I've been buying the ant traps that have liquid inside, it's called Nippon, and you buy it from wilkos, they take the sweet substance back to the nest, and feed it to the queen (sounds like something from lord of the rings doesn't it!) it's a slow killing poison, so they have chance to get back to the nest.

It really does work, for a while anyway, you see I think for some reason we're getting more ants than normal because of all the rainfall, they seem to be going under the house away from it but are coming up threw skirting boards etc. My advice would be to get some of the traps I suggested above, if you persist with it, eventually it will kill them all of, all it means is you might have to invest in quite a few traps, they're not that expensive though.

Last tip for you is even when you think they've all met there maker, don't be fooled, put a trap there just in case the little termites have breeded, good luck:0)

You need a preparation that ants will take back into the nest to kill them off so this does not happen again. Once they are dead you need to re-point the wall to stop them getting in there again. If you block the hole now before making sure they are dead they are likely just to find another way out. There is not much you can do about the ones coming out now and anyway - better out than in!

we have that problem and they are now invading our kitchen the ones with wings are usually queens and they may be ready to find a new home when they settle some where else they bite their own wings off. i used the ant powder in our kitchen it was a mistake as that stuff is toxic to humans and it can make you quite ill use the spray and keep at them as you know they never give up but try filling in all the holes on the inside of your wall

As Little Mama said, those are termites, not ants. Termites swarm annually about this time of year. That's what is happening. And you have a bigger problem. You can't get rid of termites by yourself. You need to call an exterminator ASAP. Hopefully, they haven't done too much damage to the framework of your home.

We have had this problem before and have used one of those indoor foggers. You insert the nozzle into an opening in the bricks, set off the bomb, and the spray permeates all behind the brick. Very effective.

boiling water usually works, you could pour it down the wall in the hope that some of it would enter the hole. there are also little ant 'food' dispensers you can buy that are round which you place near to where they are coming from then they take the poisonous 'food' into their nest and kills them off.

You had better call an exterminator what you call flying ants are most likely termites.
Stop them coming out one place and they Will find another. Don*t wait if those are termites they will eat your house and cause severe damage, and it won*t take them long to do it.
especially if you have that many
Go to Google and check termite images. If those are termites DON*T WAIT!!!!

You have to give them an ant killer that is a poison that the ants think is food. They take it back to the nest--which is probably in your house, and they feed it to the entire colony. They all die.
