I actually worked in a CS department and we had these fancy spray bottles of spray cleaner to keep the counter clean.
A lady brushed in together with a friend and literally threw a bag on the counter and demanded her money back.
I did the paperwork and thought to myself that a smile or a "hello" would have been nice, but I wasn't that bothered.
As I had some problems with the codes (it had expired) I had to get a supervisor to authorise it and that takes a bit of time. and I duly was rewarded with a snarling: "Aren't we just efficient today, sweetie?"
Then the brilliant thing happened. she picked up the spray bottle and squirted both wrists and sniffed them and then, head back and a few puffs on the neck.
I gave her the money and the receipt and with the speed of light I grabbed the bottle, squirted it liberally over the counter and wiped it down with a cloth. Smiling sweetly and saying "have a good day".
What is it they say: wrong purchase.....£ 27. Full refund.....£-27..... spraying yourself with what you believe is perfume £0.0001 ........ others seeing your face when you discover it was a window cleaner.....priceless.

I did and it was so beautiful and perfect that I can't even share any of the details but it was better than even the most crazed comedy writer could dream up. People who try to bully their way with the "customer is always right" routine should be aware that the LOWLY store clerk may have more tricks up the sleeve than Freddy Kruger.

Goes to show that you can get further by being nice. That is pretty funny really, people get so caught up in being pushy that they don't notice what's going on around them. But, I can't say that I've ever done that to a customer though. However, I have taken my own sweet time doing something when they were being rude.

Yes. have done all the above. I love watching their reaction to me telling them we've sold out of something, especially after going to the storage area to "check if we have any more come in ", waiting out there for an appropriate time, to come back out and saying "No"!. Absolutely priceless !!
Better still, I tell the really rude ones that I sold the last one "just this morning", or "we won't be getting anymore" having just seen a new shipment come in !! Ha, ha, ha !!

No, but in my younger days as a waitress, I messed with rude people and drunk people in much the same manner. They didn't have a clue but other patrons sitting close enough to observe did and got a few chuckles!

My dad always said the secretaries control the business world.
Yes, when someone was horrible to me, I could, on occasion, "forget" where things were or lose merchandise.

I used to be a team leader in a big retail chain. When the customers said "push" I would "shove" It was literally a game of push comes to shove! Of course, I smiled the whole time and they 'thought' I was bending over backwards to please their every whim....We do have our little quirks....hmmm

If they are crazed and raving, I give them a time out by putting them on hold.
Does that count?
