King Solomon's wisdom came from experience...in the end he said all was vanity when it came to having many wives...and concubines...he regretted it in the end...true wisdom comes from watching others and not doing the same mistake yourself...or from knowing there will be bad consequences and not doing it either.

The answer is in fact in the question. He was very wise.
Think about it, what is the major complaint women have when there with a man? I'm lonely, he doesn't spend enough time with me. Well by having more then one wife he not only made sure that there was always someone there to keep his wives company.
But also by having more then one wife it kept them in line. Women are very competitive and each of the multiple wives would have been competeing for his attention and favor. So not only where they all trying to be the best wife that they could be. They were keeping an eye on each other and would have been sure to report any indescretions the other wives might have had.
Also the other major complaint women have with men, "He's cheating on me." So by having more then one wife he was able to satisfy his urges, and since he was married to all of them he wasn't cheating. I guess this could have also caused him to have a healthier sexual appetite for all his wives, as he would never get the chance to get used to one of them if he was constantly swapping out to the next wife.
Wow.. never really thought about it till this question, but i think King Solomon definitely had the right idea.

Maybe they were the source of his wisdom. He probably learned a little from each of them, and they may have had each of their own special talents, experiences, and ways of solving problems...like how students have many teachers.
Remember the "cutting the baby in half incident"? The very maternal reasoning to answering that problem, sounds like one where he may have sought advice from his wives.

we certainly should follow King Solomon , indeed a wise man!!!
While we can not marry so many , what we can do is to do the next best thing ,.....and have plenty of girls on the side ( like smart men like Clinton and Kennedy did )

So that they would compete to please him in order to prosper. But keeping them all happy could easily have become a chore!
