in the just concluded t'nalak festival in south cotabato, the different municipalities of the province constructed nipa huts out of local bamboos and the best design wins a price. the average selling price of those nipa huts was around 40,000 pesos. beautifully designed and constructed. bamboos could last twenty years.**

The bamboo materials will cost you P2,000 (free if your friends just get it from the neighborhood. The nipa leaves, dried, will cost around P800 (because the nipa hut is small). Cement and sand plus some gravel and nails P1,000 Labor at P150 per head x 2 persons x 3 days =P 900 TOTAL P4,700 The bamboo will be used as the poles, beams and seats plus a table in the middle. You will need the cement and sand and gravel only as foundation so the bamboo poles will not rot easily. The cement can maybe extend to the flooring of the 18 square feet hut.

Can't tell you, but I can tell you that we built a house in Southern Leyte for my father in law a few years back. Not a nipa hut, but a regular decent house for 1 person (3 rooms, plus CR). It only cost us $1500.
Many people live in Nipa huts in the Philippines, but if you are building it in an area that gets a lot of typhoons, then the chances are, it won't be around long.

A 5m X 6m (30 sqm) nipa hut would cost you around P60,000. I just had one built in my property, smaller but it cost me P33,000.00. By ratio and proportion, I figure yours will be around P60,000.
The price will vary depending on location, and the availabilty of nipa hut builders. The price I mentioned is for a nipa hut that will be completely built by the nipa hut makers for you. If you have people in the neighborhood making it for you, it might be cheaper.
That will be just made of bamboo and coco lumber. And by the way, the foof I have is sawali, stronger than nipa. The cost of building a toilet and shower is separate.
I am told that with proper care, the hut can survive 5 years.

If you spend $200 US then you got ripped off. A nipa hut is the cheapest (but very durable) house you can make. You can get workers for $2.50 per day + food. But be sure to stay with them to see that they work. Three workers is the most you will need

You wont believed this, for 30 sqm Nipa Hut it would cost you around 75,000 - 90,000 pesos thats including labor and materials. Believed me I just surveyed it last time I went for vacation, because I want to build one behind my house because its too hot during summer.
wink-wink, penguin leaving in a Nipa Hut.
