Uninstall the old one before installing the new one. (Go to Control Panel and double-click on Add or Remove Programs ... at least, that's what it's called in Windows XP, and remove anything that says Lexmark.)

Did you check to see if it is compatabe with vista?
Try to download drivers from Lexmark website for compatibilty with vista.
Ring Lexmark helpline and talk to someone.
Try changing the port connection.

got a hp for less than the ink cost to replace.

sorry i cant help but just to say ive got same problem with leaxmark 1270 ive bn about a week trying to get inting and no success tried disc, wizard at the end of my tether my comp is vista home basic. and i also have error 1829 coming up. and internal problem with printer sorry not much help, but,bye charlie

You need to download the updated drivers from the website, the ones that come with it are the ones for XP.

Make sure you have it set up correctly, check connections and that you have set as primary device on your computer.
