biking in a meadow during a thunderstorm potential for a lightning strike ? if it is so, what would you recommend to do when caught in that situation?

Lightening can strike anywhere and anyone. Unlike a car which is a box where lightening passes around the vehicle bikes are exposed and made of metal so to answer your question lightening could kill you while you are riding.

Yeah one can get hit by lightening.The best thing if caught in such a situation would be to lie down on the ground away from the bike.

Yes it can, I've seen it happen on a show about lightning some years ago, on a station that had is now called ion.
