My name is Amanda Engel. I'm 17 years old and I am trying out for American Idol on the 18th of August . I'm SO nervous!!!! I'm still trying to choose the right audition song so I guess I'm in a bind with that... some ideas that I have are
-Broken Wing by Martina McBride (And YES i can out-sing Jordin with it!!!)
- Candy by Mandy Moore ( I tweeked it a little bit and it sounds really good but it's still kinda a "safe" song though...)
-God Bless America (I can sing this absolutely AMAZING. Whenever I do everyone cries it's awesome but the problem is that it's not a fresh upbeat song and I think that's more what they want)
That's really all that I have .. do you have any suggestions?

Candy, as you said, is too 'safe' and too poppy.

Bring about 4 songs. From what I remember, there is a list of 'banned' songs that they dont want to hear because they are done over and over and over and over again. Im pretty sure that the ones you mentioned arent on the list though.
Also, stay away from songs that are too 'broadway theatre' (as Simon would say).

despite if my journey with "American Idol" is from merely observing it on T.V. i visit declare that in case you may sing, then an common track to submit to in recommendations may be "someplace over the Rainbow" it extremely is common to submit to in recommendations and genuine common to butcher in case you may not sing. it is often been a make it or smash it form of track to the judges. For some reason that track brings out alot of emotion in human beings and in case you pull it off, your on your thank you to Hollywood! good success and have exciting! ********* I see you chosen a track none human beings suggested!! Bah..yet you tried darn all of it! best for you!!
