I have a penny that is off-center -- the design is way off to the side of the coin. Is this rare?

I also have a Mercury Head dime. Is it worth anything?

Thanks!

It depends on how far off center it is and how much of the image is on the planchet. If it is just a little off center and the whole image is there then it is worth little for that is common. It must be off a lot. It depends on what the date and grade of the Winged Liberty Head (Mercury) dime is. You did not give it's date. The key dates are 1916-D, 1921, 1921-D, 1926-S as well as the 2 over dates 1942/1 & 1942/1-D. Some of the other early dates in high grade also have value like the 1925-D.

Usually coins that are misprinted are worth more than a regular penny but everything depends on certian factors I.E. date, mint condition circulation etc. as an example http://cgi.ebay.com/ERROR-PENNY-US-MINT-RARE-COIN-OFF-CENTER-GENUINE-UNIQUE_W0QQitemZ160140960599QQihZ006QQcategoryZ520QQcmdZViewItem as for the mercury head dime depends on the year here is a site that will give you an idea of rarity: http://www.coinfacts.com/Dimes/mercury_head_dimes.html

I find Ebay a great source to estimate the value of items so with the info about condition and date etc. you can search out a similar one and get a good estimate on the value.

Depends when the penny was made. There have been missed stamped penny's that have sold for a couple of hundred dollars. Find a local coin collector to see what they say or hobby shop and find a book on coin collecting .
