Engine Modifications are strictly not allowed although you can change the type and vintage of the transmission.

Some of Singapore's motoring regulations are humorous.

When the third brake light, in the rear window, was first introduced it was deemed illegal as it might distract other drivers.

About 10 years ago I put a black on white, plastic license plate on the front of my wife' 200 SX in stead of the standard white on black. You see cars on the road with black on yellow in the rear and black on white in the front, right? When I went in for the next inspection I was told to replace it or change the rear plate to black on yellow AND those colors required a metal plate. Only the white on black can be plastic!!!

BTW People who do change engines will reinstall the original when the inspection rolls around.

I think LTA's web site is www.onemotoring.com.sg

Good Luck

The engine must have the same specifications, including all smog equipment, that the OEM engine had........those laws rule out the usual engine "swaps" that people want to do, and when they try a trick like that, the vehicle will not pass the Emissions Inspections..........an expensive lesson to learn
