i agree with your quote; no one can serve us happiness on a platter. no matter how wonderful a person is, it isn't he/she that makes us happy, its the way we interpret their behaviour, and the way we accept their role in our lives. we're the only ones who make ourselves happy, external factors are just stimuli.

That's mostly true but in an inverted way.The straight way to say would be that when we have happiness within ourselves,we shall find it every where. Happiness ,apart being a positive state of mind is also highly contagious . A few Happy people in a group or a society make and keep a large number of other people distracted from their problems and thus act as happiness-multipliers.

That's sad! Hope that's not what you live your life by.
I think it's easy to find happiness. No need for lots of fancy things. Just a flower or a rainbow or a good friend, a loving pet. There is an infinity of happiness. Sure there is sadness, but that makes happiness even sweeter, when you happen to come upon it.

Yes I think it is hard to find happiness in ourselves. Not contentment that's differnt yeah that's something that you find outside of yourself that's where like you can finally rest now that you know the rest of the story. But to be happy it's differnt and it's not going to last like the way that people want it last for sure. But saddness shouldn't last that long either. They are both there to help define the other.

I think that's true... happiness starts inside all of us and if it's not there to be found then you certainly can't find it anywhere else, despite all of the things you may discover or experience...
The one thing that's incredible about it though is that if you can feel it, other people can feel it in you too & that's when you start infecting people with it.
Of course, those who can't find their happiness inside themselves will see you & only feel bitter, contempt & despise... but you'll be happy anyway, so who cares...

brilliant ! true happiness , as opposed to fleeting pleasure is hard to find . and it is always inside , not outside .
there may be things we do outside of ouselves which can contribute to our self actualisationand comfort , connectedness etc.
but in the end can only come down to the personal values we place on stuff .
