In Contrast To ZinaRae's answer, I would state civilization as any material/cultural establishment by any given human society. To assert that a group is only 'civilized' by certain benchmarks denigrates the cultures own richness and advancements. It is the Euro-centric historic tradition that has Judged civilization by Hallmarks of "Advancement that only they are capable of.
