My mate James Bacon is in a bit of a wierd situation. His father's second wife (after his mum) is only 22 but James Bacon himself is 25. Whats worse is she is pregnant! So the one he must call step mother is younger than him and will have a kid bother/sister who is more than 20 years younger! How can he handle this and without feeling to embaressed refer to his new mother in law. also how to react to her?

If it's his dad's wife, it's his step-mother, not his mother-in-law. He can ask her what she would like to be called, but probably just call her by her first name. If he must introduce her, he can say this is _____, my father's wife. A lot of men start over with much younger wives and new families. It will be difficult for him, but he should be nice to the kid, because he will be around a lot longer than his dad. Also, perhaps you should repost this without your friend's full name, as it might embarrass him.

This type of situation happen more than you think.
My Half sister is 28 years younger than I am.
Never been a problem.

James` dad met someone that he fell in love with and married. He didnt chose the age, he picked the lady.
Since she is young, it would be only normal that she would want a baby.

James should not feel ashamed. He should be happy for his dad and his step-mom.
Remember this isnt the first time it has ever happened, nor will it be the last.

BTW James doesnt have to treat his dad's wife any different than he does anyone else. I have a (Step) also and although she is my dad's wife. I dont have to pretend we are close, she is simply my dad's wife.
