Well we do share this world with creatures other than humans; they re called "gin","gene" in Arabic or as you call them ghosts. All Muslims believe in their existence. There are good gin and bad gin. A rooster and a donkey can see them cus their vision ability is superior than ours; they view ultraviolet and red light. According to Quran, jin is made from fire while we humans are made of soil. If you research, you will find very interesting stuff. They have their own separate world, but sometimes they visit our world and they have the ability to alter their looks for example turn into another human or animal. Some, even live in other human's homes; especially the good ones.

Hi Pratika,

people have been trying for many years to prove or disprove the existence of ghost...some will say they do not exists..others will tell you they do exist but they are of a demonic nature ..this mostly comes from highly religious people who believe in heaven or hell..but not an in-between..than you have physics who say it is a spirit of a person who once lived....but from a scientific stand point ..ghost has not been proven to exist nor,has it been disproved....

I for one ,would probably never have believed in "ghosts".. if I hadn't been raised in a house that had some other presence in it ..one or two things can be explained away or be called a trick of your imagination..but years upon years of many occurrences...cannot....if you ask me, there is something beyond on living on a different plane than us..but a lot of people will disagree ....

my advice to you..is not to worry to much about this...if by chance you see something again..just ignore it the best you can...but if it becomes a problem talk to you mom again and let her know what is happening.......

by the way, a lot of people who do not believe will react the same way your mum's boyfriend did..don't worry about this either.....

you take care.....

Yea my old house was haunted, it was in this part of California were they built houses over an old Indian burial ground and my whole family always saw a male shadow walking up the drive way. My dad use to be on the road a lot and i would always think it was him coming up the drive way and when i would look out the window there would be nothing there. Some times the ghost would walk through the center of the house from one side of the house to the other but i would never follow him. Nothing bad ever happened, he just made it known that he was there. Every once in a while a picture would get knocked down but that was it, i think it really depends on the type of spirit you encounter. I know it might sound crazy but its true.

Dear Pratika,

Your question has good number of responses which shows that the topic is of interest to many. I am not a psychologist but my understanding and interpretation of ghost is as under:

Fear, feeling of insecurity, inferiority complex etc are first cousins of the same family. They are always welcomed and given a seat in our mind. Mind gets frequent pricks from these colonial cousins and make you to react to situations. For example, there is a tree or shrub just outside your window. On a windy day the branch of the tree starts shaking. If you are watching through the window glass you derive certain forms from that. Be it human being, animal, bird, fire etc. Suddenly your inner heart prompts you to link this model to anything which you have read about, seen or dislike. Your blood pressure builds up and the fear psychosis then takes over to make you believe about a ghost or satan.

What is the solution. Keep a torch light handy. Be brave and look for the reality and get the cousins out of your mind. Take care dear, there is no ghost to trouble you.

Yes, I do believe in ghosts. I have also experienced it many times but no evidence to prove the same.

For example once I saw a chart with English alphabets and some digits in a magazine and a description how to use the said chart to invite the soul of a dead person and accordingly I prepared a replica of that chart and with a coin I used to follow the direction given in the magazine with an intention to amuse my family but all of a sudden what happened to me I don't know , I lost my sense and used to behave like a hysteric person and my family members torn the chart into pieces and warned me not repeat the same. Till today I am in surprise about the same.

Replying to a query in the type of language used by you would feel like a pain in the neck, but the topic deserves an answer. During my College prescribed course in English, there was a poem called Christable with experiences similar to those you seem to have witnessed - and the closing lines were - a sight to dream of not to tell. If you can get that poem, it might throw some more light on the topic.

They exist but most of them are harmless. It's usually best to just ignore them and go about your business. I'm a sensitive so I've been having experiences with entities since I was a child. Some would see it as a gift, I'm not so sure it is.

EDIT
Do not in any way try to make contact with the entity or say any prayers that people are recommending on here. If it's not bothering you then leave it be. Interfering with them can anger the entity and aggravate a situation.

I totally believe in ghosts too. My mom never let us go into one room when I was very young and we lived in Hoshipur India. She always told us it was because it was my Bibi and Baba`s room. Well I got the courage to go in there one day while my mom was downstairs. I saw my grandmother sitting on her bed only she had been dead before I was born. Also in present time in Canada, my daughter and son have seen my father-in laws ghost around the house and on his birthday every year the light above the stairs burns out.( I buy the bulbs that are supposed to last 2 years) So go figure.

I prefer to call them spirits myself. I have had only two physical encounters...one when I was going through cancer, but have had numerous visions (some while awake, others in sleep) and incidents throughout my life. At first I tried to use reason and science, then went through fear wondering why me, as most were negative and some scary. I purposely blocked it for years, but am now comfortable with it. It helps that my family now understands after revealing a couple of ones that actually happened a day after I told of my vision. Two of my children have revealed they have been having premonitions and visions so perhaps it is hereditary. My daughter more so. I still ask why.

I remember a girl in HS who was more receptive than anyone I ever met. At her birthday party, we all played a game with a deck of cards held behind a screen. She got 28 out of 30 right. Later I questioned her as to how she did it and she said the same thing...."I don't know. I've always been able to do it." She told how her grandfather came into her room and talked with her when she was a child and said he wouldn't be able to come visit her anymore, but someday she would be able to. He was like a "white cloud you could see through" was how she described him. Then the phone rang and her mother came into her room to tell her the news, but she said it before her mom could.

It's hard to explain to people who have never experienced it. Kind of like explaining childbirth....you may see it and know about it, but you will never know how it actually feels if you've never been through it. Although most have never seen a spirit, I believe that most have felt a presence at one or two points in their life. Be it someone who they loved and passed away or something else. Many will later second guess themselves and dismiss it as "the jitters" or that their imagination was running away with them. Trust me, when the hair on the back of your neck prickles and you get goosebumps, there may just be a good reason other than fear.

Ghosts, ghouls, spirits. They walk on the same earth we do,they're just in another dimension.Sometimes some people just mistune their brainwaves, thats why they can see them.My brother sees spirits all the time.He started seeing ghosts since he was a toddler. He sort of upped his level,he comes across deities and gods as he grew older.Used to be black n white or only one colour, now he sees spirits as if their like us.As for the creepy expression, they have the power to appear as any form they wish.
