It seems to me that the import scene is dying. I drive a 2000 Firebird and it just seems like most of the cars I race are American muscle. There are no ricers out there it seems. More recently, it seems like muscle is taking over the street racing scene. what with the introduction of the new camaro and challenger...I think things are starting to change...what do you think?

ps: no **** it's a buick engine, you think I don't know that? I work on cars every day of my life. Trust me, ricers suck. If 4 cylinders are so fast, why don't they use them at the track? Sure, they show up once in a while and maybe by some miracle they pull an 8 or 9, but lets face it the V8s are the primary source of power. Dragsters= V8, Nascar= V8. Just stop defending your crappy 4 bangers. You people don't get that, yes, you can spend 10,000 dollars to be as fast as a camaro v8, but likewise, that same camaro v8 can do the same thing with 10,000 and will destroy everything. OWNED.

Uh...yeah, bigger V8s can produce well over 2500HP. Yeah...ever been to a drag strip? Think before you say **** idiot.

I am member of a Japanese sports car group. I must admit, each year the scene and club gets less and less attention. I dont know if its cause we are getting older or because our cars are getting older.

No i think that is false because there are still loads of import tuners around its just that in America the people prefer all the muscle cars so there are not many imports out there put in other places in the world the import scene is still booming such as Japan and Europe.
You Americans are all the same its all about who has the most cc and who has the most bhp but over here we are not bothered and just tune are cars for a hobby and you all have V8s and are causing pollution and it is having its effects on UK as you may have seen the news about all the rain we are having but unlike you we have sensible cars that dso not polute and cause terrible weather. And v8s are not always better any japanese tuner could blow away a v8 or any American muscle with great ease.
So there big cc is not always better as a V6 Skyline can produce about 1600bhp maxxed out can you see any American muscle can makeing that sort of power from a bigger v8?

It depends where you are maybe.
Where iam is getting bigger and bigger.I have had imports for many many years and attend Japanese car shows each year.
And all i see is the scene getting bigger and bigger even more so with imports becoming easier to get and cheaper also.

So sorry for you its still there and good it would be boring if we all had the same cars and same clothes etc its a taste and adds fun on the track days and gives fresh styles.

I know many not all US folks are muscle car mad and believe they have the super fast cars.

But there is super fast American cars and super fast Japanese cars its like any car theres always something to beat it.

Yes you may believe you have a super fast rice beater and vice versa but theres some super fats ricers out there.

So its time to get over it and enjoy your own scene and enjoy the thought that not everyone has got the same car and how boring that would be.

And dont forget most of the super fast imports are few atm in the US there plenty out there creeping in so be careful whom you race.

well personally i think your ego goes along with your pos that gets 13mpg and looks worse then things i crap out. Not to mention there are no ergonomics thought of dealing with your interior. There are plenty of imports that will take you on the track. I'm not talking about the weak *** street racing that you do. You are just as bad as the civics with loud, huge mufflers(or lack there of muffling capability) that give imports a bad name. You give domestics a bad name because of your attitude. I love the brute low end torque of v8's and i love the high reving, high specific output of imports. I respect both and drive both. But my love will always be toward ingenuity and styling of imports. An sti or an evo will take your tank. And when the gtr comes, everything will be destroyed, everything. That's right godzilla is coming. After that 10cylinder acura nsx. Then reintroducing the next gen supra maybe in the form of lexus. Imports are not dying they are changing but they are not dying out. It is domestics that are in trouble, they are getting bigger, more luxurious. Just because it has a big engine doesn't mean it's sporty. There are lot's of grandma's and gramps out there with v8's. Your car is only a couple hundred pounds lighter then some of those heavy weight luxury vehicles. So ok we all know now mister big shot driving your 2000 firebird with a v6 and an exhaust taking on all those big bad 1600cc civics with junk mufflers. Stop going into import questions and trying to start an argument for the sake of an ego boost and letting everyone know what kind of pos you drive. In case you havent checked 15 seconds isn't fast on the 1320. your car is about equally just as slow and junky as riced out civics and other cars with small displacement but still they have more specific output then your lame 200hp 3.8L buick engine. That's right your buick engine. My grammy's caddy would smoke your car. Please there are so many cars under 2 liters that would smash yours. You don't even have a muscle car, your's is the weakest of the weak.

hmm, this seems to be turning more into a forum. First off not all imports are 4-bangers as you imply. But we'll take your assumption and stay with 4bangers. Stock to stock here are the cars that will take your car with the 3.8L producing something like 200hp and about the same torque.

I know there are quite a few more and some i didn't give years because i assume you know the span of the model listed. So I know it isn't complete list of 4cylinders that will destroy his car. And I know i limited to imports that make it to US, so no silvias, or fq(literally means ******* quick, crazy brits) evo's or all wheel drive foci(plural focus right), ect.

you wanna step up to six cylinders and plus? Your lucky the Japanese auto makers abided by the gentleman's agreement for quite a while. But we all know that was broken numerous times under the table right. The skyline gtr was never 276hp it was more like 330+hp.

i think it all depends on where you are, some places i go i see nothing but stangs and camaros, next week im up to my neck in hondas and mitsubishis. and rear spoilers on imports are not for forward traction but for handling at high speeds, those cars dont weigh enough to keep pressure on the back at 100+ they make a big difference when cornering.

Cars don't have muscles.

There are plenty of ricers. Just this week, I saw at least ten Japanese cars with giant exhausts and ridiculous spoilers (which of course do nothing for FWD cars).
