It sounds so tacky and cheap when people do that.
It's like, what do you think you're going to do with those extra 10 points? Redeem them at Chuck'e Cheeses for a plastic spinning top or something? So yeah, I make sure to DEFINITELY NOT give that person the best answer. I might tell them to STFU and GAL though.
If someone has a real best answer, then they wouldn't ask for you to select theirs as best - they'd have the sense not to sound so cheap.
Alas, there are some sad people in Y! Answer land. I'm afraid they'll learn the hard way one day.

They have never notified me by E-mail. In fact, anymore, I can get 5 or 6 BA's overnight. But when I log in they say I have earned 13 points.? I think they are skipping a lot of the 10 point bonuses.

You know, no one has done that for any of my questions yet. When I read it on anyone else's questions, I usually give a thumbs down. I don't know why, since I generally give stars to people who pander shamelessly for them. Hmm. Maybe that's something I should think about sometime in the future.
