OK, last week I took a new job at this one company, basically working in an office. The dept. I work in hired me and this other woman to do the order processing and shipping. Her and I get along perfect so there's no problem there. This is what the problem is, on our software that keeps track of customers and clients, its very important that there are no duplicate entries of any same customer so we have to straighten the dupe'd records out. Our boss told us this lady from another dept. would be around to show us how to fix that up the first day, and she didn't even come by to show is how, and hasn't for the rest of the week. Nevertheless she does like to rag on us about duplicate entries in the database, and we tell her we don't know how to take them off and on Friday the boss leaned on her to get off her *** and show us how but she weaseled away by asking us where today's mail was and we told her we already brought it out to everyone and then she rags us saying only she can do that.

(cont'd.) so she leaves in a huff and we STILL don't know how to take off the double records. What worries me is that she seems to be very threatened by the both of us because we actually do work and she just poses and looks busy. This is going to sound bigoted no matter how I say it but she is Latina and I so I don't know how feisty and vindictive she will be to us and whether she will use whatever kind of clout that keeps her in a job where she does no work to get me or my coworker let go. I need this job really bad and I think this may be a consistent problem because the departing woman for our job that was supposed to train us didn't show up and I theoirze that she left because of this same lady who does not help us. I can't even walk past her without her getting this snooty disdainful look on her face and my coworker noticed the same when she goes past her. I just want to work!

What I really want to uncover too is what keeps her in a job here? If it was you or me and you just loafed around and nothing get done, we would get canned, which makes me suspect she has clout somewhere in the co. , perhaps at the very least from never showing anyone else what needs to be done in certain depts. like ours, as she rose up from mine back in the day, but why the jealously? I have never acted crappy to her but her attitude astonishes me.

If there WAS anyone else that knew how, I already would have learned how from them, why do you think I had to put this question up?

You arent getting it Idea, the reason there are 2 of us doing the same thing is that there is that much work our dept. has to do, plus most of the time just one of us are doing it in staggered shifts. One good thing that happened was that the lazy gal nicened up today, maybe because she noticed how lousy she acted to us last week. To hell with not creating animosity, can you imagine all the crap our dept. catches from the rest of the office for not clearing off the dupes? It sure feels like animosity to me!

Plus she got to screw us over in a different way earlier today!! When the company website gets contact leads from people wanting to get our product from people overseas and in Canada, we need to shunt those leads to our international distributors in the respective areas. To do this, we need a new email account within our systems so we can send them to the right areas, and guess the only person that knows how to set THAT up? Yeah, you guessed right!

Asked the boss if there is someone else that can show you how to take them off. Maybe they have a manual that will show you. Or someone in systems. Don't keep on the other lady or push the boss to get her to do it. Just builds animosity.

There are always difficult personalities to be dealt with. It seems like the bigger issue here is that it seems from your description that mutiple people are doing the same work which isn't efficient. Perhaps you can find out why there are duplicate records and suggest a process change to your supervisor. This way not only do you not have to deal with this woman but you also are making the dept more efficient.

Be careful she could be related to the boss. Follow your bliss and leave the company if need be. Learn as much as you can from the experience without holding resentment for anyone.

Let your boss handle it. Treat her exactly right, polite doing what she asked if it is your job and if asked to do something that isn't inform her you will do it if your boss asks you to.
