I thought of using food coloring, but was worried it would make the pasta expand and perhaps get soggy. Will it?

my sister is a kindergarten teacher and she has a weird but great way to do it... you take a ziplock back add your pasta and a cup of vinegar colored with food coloring..i dont know how it works but it does... put mixture into bag and shake it and let sit overnight.. then let dry on wax paper.. good luck!

If you dont figure out how to dye the pasta I know you can buy some at Discount School Supply. They have a ton of arts & craft supplies including colored macaroni and really great prices. They also have a great crafts sharing board with tons of craft ideas submitted by parents and teachers.

Use food coloring. You can get it at any supermarket in the baking aisle. It is designed for food so the pasta will hold the color well, and there's no chance of poisoning if a child gets hold of it.

Water paint, finger paint, spray paint, easter egg coloring kit. If you're making your own pasta, use food coloring.

all you do is mix food coloring with rubbing alcohol.....and mix in a bag or in a bowl....since the alcohol evaporates you have no gooey pasta....I am an art teacher ..it works every time..

I agree... alcohol is the key. Alcohol will evaporate quickly compared to water.
