I just learned that and I was astonished. . .

the constitution actually only controls the relationship between people and gov't. it should have no control over relationships between citizens or businesses. when it does it is because activist judges have gotten out of control.

abortion is not mentioned in the constitution either.

No there isn't.

The Equal Rights Amendment was not ratified. The only gender protections related to voting.

But, there are federal and state laws that provide for gender equality. And there are some state constitutions that have more gender equality protections than the federal constitution does.

Yes because when the constitution was written such ideas simply didn't exist.
Yet we are honestly supposed to believe that the Founding Fathers are infallible and we should not question thier judgement when it comes to the constitution.

The purpose of the federal constitution is to limit the power of government only. Anything else should be a state controlled issue.

If there were provisions such as that, the need for the Civil Rights and/or Women's Movement would not have existed.
