You could major in Communications, possibly with a minor in Journalism. It really depends on the employer you would be working for, so check around before making any final decisions.

If you're interested in a specific beat, a strong background in that field may be more valuable than majoring in jouralism, but you'd also be expected to have some background in jouralism or communications.

That's my two cents, but honestly I don't know, so please don't make any career / life decisions based on what I think.
