It is my belief that those who relish in gossip are insecure individuals who are wanna be's, who get a moment of joy when they gossip.

While they are gossiping, they become very important to all others who relish in gossip.

Mind you I said they get just the moment of feeling like they are important to some one.

I detest gossip.

I like to have fun when I'm in the presence of others and I feel it is important to find out what others interests are and go with the conversation from there.

I always try to make it a point to leave them laughing and to be delighted to see me the next time we meet and feel confident in my friendship with them.

All my life I have stuck up for the under dog so it isn't in my nature to listen to gossip.

Thanks for the question,

People do this so that they can know or try to know what is going on in someone else life. This makes them feel better about themselves and who and what they are. It makes them see that everyone has problems and they find some delight in knowing someone else may be in pain or suffering threw a hard time. Some people are just curious. This is seen by our culture now with all the reality TV shows and voyeur web cams and so on that people look at.

According to a study, it "builds relationships" I just think it's something for people to talk about--humans today are an unimaginative lot. It's a common interest to people. As long as it isn't used to hurt people, I don't mind it.
