Unfortunately the Democratic party has chosen to align themselves with the fringe Left rather than address real issues. This was referred to in the past as symbolism over substance.
There is evidence that the Democrats are now headed down the path of Communism. This shows up as the cause dejour of Environmentalism. These people are green on the outside and red on the inside.

It has absolutely no relevance to the Democratic Party other than people who are really ignorant (and no you are not ignorant so there is nothing to forgive - you are asking in the hope of learning).
The Hammer and Sickle represented the tools of the working class. These were adopted as the symbols of Leninists leading up to the Communist takeover in Russia. They were then incorporated into the flag of the Soviet Union.

well it flew over the Soviet Union, the former socialist empire. where as a person, you had cradle to grave health care, everyone was treated equally regardless of intellect and wealth, they had gun control and outlawed religion.

For a large part the Democratic party supports most of Socialism's Ideals. It would be more honest for the Dem's just to adopt the hammer and sickle as the flag of the Democratic Party.

I hope this was helpful.

A hammer and sickle represents the laborer's tools. But, it has never been the symbol of any American political group.

The hammer and the sickle are the symbols Communists chose to represent 'The Worker' (which was their entire ideal, that workers made a country, so they deserved to own it). The hammer represents the factory worker, the sickle represents the farm worker.

They specifically represent the worker's struggle to achieve their rightful share of the profits from their toil out of the hands of the aristocrats who took all the profits and gave them nothing. They were the tools of the common people, they are the tools they used in the factories and in the fields and they stood for their revolution.

I am not sure how they relate to the Democrats in the USA. They are a right wing party with liberal tendencies as opposed to the Republicans who are a right wing party with fascist tendencies.

It seems to me that many US citizens, who support the Republican Party, label anyone who has a different opinion from them as a Communist?

Many countries have social programs that bennefit the populus as a whole. Most of these countries are not Communist but are more of a Democracy the the U.S.A.

The hammer and sickle is one of the symbols of communism. It has no connection to the American Democratic Party.

But this question gave a perfect opportunity for the conservatives that believe the nonsense that Democrats are socialists or communists to spout their rhetoric once again. No matter, all it does is show just how badly they need to take Political Science 101.

The democratic party typically want socialized medicine. wealth redistribution, fairness doctrine ( silencing opposing views) and many other socialist ideals.

Sociallism is generally a stepping stone for communism.

The Hammer and sickle represent the worker. It is supposed to be the laborers nation but history tells us that in commuinism everyone is poor except the ruling class (Politicians).
