Yep, that's what I have. With T-tops and 4 wheel disc brakes, and cloth interior. And I can't believe it's only worth $2500 when there were only ~ 2900 of them made with T-tops, Pontiac 400CID & 4 spd in '79.

And you and Burt Reynolds ride around in it? Is he wearing a black felt cowboy hat and your wearing a wedding veil? Second Generation Trans-ams were best with the Super Duty engine And WS-6 options. Watch Out there's Jacky Gleason in the Sherriffs Car!

Hi.....oh yes, you wouldn't believe it, but i'll tell ya. In 1978 i was 18 years old and i got a job at the local Pontiac dealer, washing cars. Quite often, new cars would arrive at the dealership with damage, a dented door or a broken window. Kids throw rocks at the transport trucks, at least back then they did. One day, we got a delivery of a few cars with broken windows. These cars had 2.5 miles on them. I got a black and gold trans am 6.6 liter, with a 4 speed, and another kid who worked there got a silver and red Formula, 6.6 with an automatic. It was our job to drive them up to the dealer's body shop about 4 miles away. I told Ray, the other kid, to meet me on a side road about half way there. When we got there a few minutes later, he pulled up next to me and i said, "i bet i can get more rubber out of this car than you can in that car!" He laughed as i wound up a brand new Trans Am to 5,000 rpms and side stepped the clutch....I laid a long holeshot, about 75 feet on the pavement... I backed up, and said, "Beat that!" He romped the hell out of the Formula, and he did beat me by about 3 feet!!! Well, we did this back and forth about 3 or 4 times. It was about 11 am on a cold march day in NJ. Low and behold, a cop shows up just as we decided we were gonna race down the street side by side. He see's all the rubber black marks on the pavement, and asks us what we were doing? "Uh, just driving these cars up to the bodyshop officer." He looked at us, 2 kids in brand new Firebirds, with plastic hanging off the windows and the seats and said, "Do you think Mr. Blank, the owner of the dealership would appreciate the way you drive his cars?" I just looked at the ground and muttered, "no." He told us to get to the bodyshop, and dont ever let him catch us again doing that. We got real lucky that day!! I probably drove 30 or so new cars to the bodyshop over the year that i worked there. I was a wild teen, and i knew how to drive good. Also, back then, they had Pontiac Sunbirds, V-6 motor, and a 5 speed manual. They did awesome holeshots too!! Almost as good as the Firebirds!! I dont see many of them around anymore........i wonder why!!! LOL!! But, the funniest part is, when the cars were fixed and sold new, i bet some of the new owners babied them. They might have had 8 miles on them. And, 2 or 3 miles of hard driving if i got my hands on it!!! Those were the days!!!!! Thanks for letting me re-live some fond memories of my youth!!!! I have been graced with the pleasure of abusing a brand new Black and Gold Trans Am!!

My hubby and I owned one for a while. But he thought he should get rid of it after a few years. He got into older muscle cars then and has been interested in them ever since.
