Because men do almost everything faster, further, and harder than women, unfortunately, and what sport doesn't normally have physical size and strength as THE determining factor for victory?

Therefore, if advertising dollars are dependent on good, world-class competition and outstanding victory, then it serves that logically the media will cover those sports where those characteristics predominate. Basically the media cover what their clients want - although they do a-plenty to promote and exaggerate what any fan might want, too.

I don't like the results, because, for example the way basketball was ORIGINALLY meant to be played was with a coordinated, mutually inclusive team, as it is with present-day women's teams and much more so dependent on STRATEGY - not dominated by individuals with grossly exaggerated physical characteristics (height) or particular skills (shooting accuracy from a far distance).

it is all about how much $ people can make. generally Female sports don't get as much attention but that changes once in awile (college sports: softball, basketball) The Girl sports are just not as exciting sometimes but I had to watch what the college girls are doing because the rules are different like the times/lines/points after a while you get hooked once you know their rules/lines/points/times etc. Someone should take a stand and say hey we want girl sports to equal air time as the men sports but i don't think it is going to happen anytime soon, but it would be nice to see that change in our lifetime. I love all sports male or female! Sports is Sports no matter how you slice it! Go Wizards!!!

I've refereed girls soccer before and the pace of play is a lot slower than boys. This is evident around the beginning of the teenage years upwards to professional. As much as women want to claim their sporting events are as fierce as male events are just kidding themselves. This isn't being sexist. It's the facts. Male sports are faster, more aggressive, and more action-packed. Watching women playing sports is like watching them play underwater or in the Matrix. EVERYTHING is slower.

Men also consume, watch, and play sports significantly more than women. And let's be honest: unless it's women's volleyball or tennis, then men probably aren't interested for obvious reasons. It's just boring compared to male sports.

It's simple economics: male sports take in more money, so more valuable T.V. time is given to them. Also, considering the vast majority of sports viewers are men, it makes sense to cover what they are interested in seeing.
