It is so sad though. My grandfather was a wonderful man and her mom and adopted dad told her that her father died in WWII

The only reason I know this is because the housekeeper mentioned to my great aunt about how this little girl was crying and screaming and looking through her adopted dads office that she didn't believe her date died in the war. My aunt asked what family was this and it was her family.

My grandma is very insistent on the fact that I don't find her. She is afraid she would come take away my mom's inheritence.

How wrong would it be if I found her but just didn't tell her who I was? I really wish she would have looked for my grandfather but why would she have when she thought he was dead.

Why do you want to do this? You really don't know if there is any truth or not to this story, and the fact is your half aunty may not even wish to be found.

It is far easier for an adopted child to find her birth parents than for the family of the reliquishing parent to do so, in some cases it is actually illegal for the family to make contact because of the upset it can bring into the life of the adopted person.

Disabuse yourself of your romantic notions that this possible half aunt is sitting glamorously somewhere pining away for contact from you. She has long sionce made her own life and moved on, and may have a family of her own.

If she wants to find you, she probably will.

Stay right out of this situation, it is none of your business and could cause a lot of pain for many people for the sake of your idle curiosity.

First, your mother should have a will saying where the inheritance will go, second, you have every right to know who she is and I would say find her and tell her who you are. She has the right to know she has a half sister too!

well if you want to find her that bad then go find her...do some research or if you can afford a private detective then do so...they can help you find missing people on the internet..you can also try a psychic but not the fake ones...the KEY thing is no one gets hurt in you finding her...take care

Peggy - you really don't have a right to get involved in this. If your mother wants to find her, that would be a different story - but it is not your place.
