ok, I've lived in Az all my life and I have never seen a scorpion or a poisonous snake except at the zoo. There are mosquitoes but not many. Its not really a problem here like it is in humid areas. Scottsdale is a very nice place to live. Lots of things to do. The downside...people can be very materialistic there. but its the most beautiful city in az.

You really have to go looking for them. In the developed areas, like Phoenix and Scottsdale, scorpions and snakes are rarely, if ever, seen. Too much city and concrete. If you get a little more rural - Fountain Hills, for example - you *might* see a scorpion or snake, but it'd be unlikely. And by the way, though poisonous, they are rarely fatal - you just need to get to an emergency room.

If you move to Scottsdale near the mountain (McDowell Mtn) Yes, you will see them often. A friend of mine just sold his house because of that. The scorpion's where hard to get rid of, and every once in a while he would see Javalina to.
If you don't want to see these creatures, go to the developed areas that are not up to the mountain.
I've been here 15 years and have only seen two scorpions.

Chances that you will ever see these things are very slim, unless you go looking for them.
I am afraid of scorpions and snakes too and wouldn't want to live anywhere but Arizona.
I've never had a problem .

If you live in town in a developed area you will never see these things, I've lived in Phoenix for 20 years and have NEVER seen a snake, and only saw a scorpion one time...not bad in 20 years.

i might advise you progression to northern Arizona and not in the Valley of the sunlight. there is an unlawful inhabitants factor that has risen over the years and the matters with the young human beings of that factor are destroying the large city with the violence and hassle in the faculties. Prescott, and Flagstaff are greater risk-free and are small cities with huge charm. you may boost babies there and not be disturbing approximately gangs and the transients that are available in the direction of the cities in the process the winter months and stay till they're harrassed via police, before shifting someplace else interior sight. there is captivating Sedona in between the two cities which you will possibly want to verify with crimson Rock Crossing, and Slide Rock for game. you will not have the intense warmth in summer season in Prescott or Flagstaff, and you will even see snow in the winter on occasion. they have the suitable small city experience and are proper for elevating a family contributors. And it is not that long of acontinual to the large city of Phoenix to do considerable procuring.
