I do not like to share my opinions before I get answers , but honestly it kinda makes me mad.
Especialy the people who live here! I mean I am not very patriotic or very red blooded, infact my parents are both imigrants, but I grew up here and it has been my home for all my life. And I it will be a part of me wherever I go...
I understand America has done alot of bad things but so have other countries. We are only as good as our leaders and people are starting to realize that our leaders are not doing such a great job (Isnt Bushes rating down to like 43%?). Again I am not your "average" American (I am pro gun control, against abortion(In a way, I feel that since it is still in your body you can do with it as you wish but it is still murder and wrong) and I disliked Bush and the war since the start.
So how do you feel about people who say this and why do they say it?
I understand disliking Bush, but why HATE anyone
Please do not let my opinion alter your answer I wnat to hear why people say these things

I once met someone who was new here from Mexico and he swore up and down that he hated America and loved Mexico.
When I asked him why he's here if he hates it so much and loves Mexico he became very mad and irrational.
So I'm beginning to think that when they say they hate America they are only repeating something that they've heard said so many times that they don't even realize why they are saying it.
I know we are at war and most people are opposed to that but do they realize that we are at war because there is an enemy out there who will kill us if we don't stop them first?
In fact they attacked us on many occasions and 9/11 was just one of them.
The only problem I have with the war is it's taking too long to finish.
The Rules of Engagement our soldiers have to abide by are causing them to die needlessly because they're hands are tied and they are very limited as to what they can and cannot do.
If our police officers had to abide by the same rules our soldiers do they would die by the thousands as well.
I also don't agree with the high cost of gasoline. If we are there to help those people obtain freedom from their enemies then why are they charging us so much for gas?
And concerning abortion.
The part I really don't understand is the woman claims it's her body and she has the right to do anything she wants to it.
But if a woman cares so much about what happens to her body why would she go out and have unprotected sex which is endangering her very life?
And abortion is killing the baby's body so doesn't the baby's body account for something too?
Personally I think "It's my body and I can do whatever I want to it" is just a feeble attempt at justifying killing an innocent person who hasn't done anything to deserve to die.
I think people who claim to hate America are misguided and possibly brainwashed and I think if they really mean it when they say that they hate it here then they should do us all a favor and move somewhere else.
It doesn't make much sense to say they hate it here and then make no effort at all to leave.
Besides if it was so bad here then why are so many people working very hard to obtain their citizenship and migrating here every year?
If it was so bad here quite the opposite would be occurring.
People by the millions would be trying to LEAVE instead of staying.

Who has said they Hate America?
That is usually something extreme Right Wing Talking Heads like Hannity say about anyone who disagrees with them - but not usually a rallying cry for anyone?
BTW - 43% would be a dream for Dubya - it is hovering around the low 30s and high 20s.

People who hate America are completely clueless and ignorant. If they live here, they should be given a one way ticket to the country of their choosing on the condition that they never return. If they live in another country and hate America, who cares. They can just stay where they are and whine and carry on, but if they dare to take up arms against us, they will feel our wrath!

I feel the same as I feel when I hear anyone say they hate, France, Germany, Iceland, Russia, Iraq, Iran, Vanuatu, England, etc. I feel sorry for the ignorance that they carry as though it is a tourch. it can only burn or blind none are made better by it.

True, Bush has done enormous damage to the US image abroad. But that said, I say the hell with them. The world hates Americans no matter what. Why? Because we are successful, strong, innovative and have done far more good in this world than harm. We feed millions, provide an umbrella of protection for millions more, have the greatest universities on the planet and the greatest minds. Why do millions want to come to this country to live and work?
I've lived in Europe and Asia and have often encountered this anti-American bias.
So, again, the hell with them. It didn't start with Bush.

You're entitled to be mad -- that's your opinion.
They're entitled to be mad -- that's their opinion.
As to what people are saying -- it really depends.
If they are saying the current govt is bad, that's not the same as saying America is bad. In England, the Crown IS the Country. Attacking one is attacking the other.
In America, we don't have a Crown (despite what King GW thinks) and so hating our leaders is NOT the same as hating the country. Nor is hating Congress. Nor is thinking we're heading in the wrong direction.
If any one thing represented our country, it would be the Constitution. That's what ever attorney, every military officer, every officer of the courts, and every elected official must swear to uphold and defend. The Constitution.
So, really, the only people who hate America are the ones who hate and despise and betray our Constitution.
I'll leave it as an exercise to the readers to see who hates the Constitution, and thus who really hates America.

i really have a resentment against those people. i'm a hardcore liberal, very much against the current administration. however, i really LOVE my country, and i'd do pretty much anything for it. that's why i marched in the streets, both before and after the war began, and showed my patriotic dissent! i believe that being active in our political system is the most patriotic thing you can do.
there are a lot of flaws in our country. i think that we can take cues from many other countries on issues like healthcare, poverty, global warming, and civil liberties. but i still love my country with all my heart. i love our diversity, our myriad cultures, our beautiful landscapes, and our history. every country has mistakes in its past--i think this era of bush's reign will be viewed as one--but overall, i feel lucky to live here.
i think people hold resentments against our current administration and those in the past. i think they see corruption, greed, and hostility, but most of all they see arrogance. our politicians speak loudly and hold the biggest stick they can find. if we were more diplomatic, more honest, and less violent, they would probably embrace us and our culture more readily. i don't blame them for their hatred, but i do think that they don't fully understand our people. they don't see us--they see our elected officials. that gives them the wrong idea.
also, we might want to stop bombing the crap out of other countries... that might be a big one.
