No matter what size, type or make you have all engines shares 1 common thing... They are all just big air pumps.. The pump air in, compress air, and pump air out..

More air you can get in it, the "harder" you can compress it, and the more air you can get all.. All results in power gains. When you can gain power with out working the engine harder, you will also gain fuel mileage..

Then we get into the air temp.. Cooler air is denser and holds more O2 in it.. Cooler air makes more power.. About 1% power gain for every 10* cooler the air is.

So to answer your question.. Yes a better flowing air filter and a "cold air" set up will get you better fuel mileage and a power gain.. The gains won't be big, great, etc but it will be a slight gain

Possibly. However when you say performance, you aren't talking about economy. The guys that have all the performance parts are driving the cars hard so they are not getting the best gas mileage out of them. If you can take it easy with the driving then the new manifold may save you a little gas money.

yes they do. typically with any performance air intake system they do one or two things they let more air in, or they let cooler air in. they improve mileage by a little bit because they let more air into the combustion chamber. causing a bigger explosion with less gas. the colder the air coming in is the more compressed it is once again causing a bigger explosion with less gas.

Aftermarket intake systems Increase airflow, and decrease air temperature. That can do nothing but good.
