Self employed, contractor 30 years of hard work,no cubicle, no tax breaks, no health care, free ride, golden parachute, Just hard work and some bit of freedom but that nearly gone too. I worked for a big corp. once or twice, but *** kissing is not my way, I was raised on Jefferson, Monroe, Madison and Washington and the Constitution. Big business has too much power in our government because they have the money. 65% of the fortune 500 have paid 00.00 taxes for the last 15 years. but give lot to politics to get favors that is what jefferson and monroe warned against, as a major corrupting influance.

Merchants have no country. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains.
Thomas Jefferson

In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution. Thomas Jefferson

I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.
James Madison

Knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.
James Madison

Many of us have to work where ever we can get a job, making the most money we can get, just to survive! I don't think many of us hate corporations and business at all. What we object to is the greed, the corruption, and the lack of humanity, and so forth that so many corporations demonstrate! I am sure that some corporations really want to do what is right, and put people ahead of profits, but the others make it difficult to stay in business if they do that. *sm*

I know the answer....

They work for large companies who are currently conspiring with their large unions to steal their large pensions and other retirement benefits.

I have watched this scenario play itself out repeatedly over the years - like a broken record. In fact, in my current line of work, I hear about it almost everyday.

Hmmm,

I wonder how many of them only 'think' they have medical benefits and will never know they don't until after becoming deathly sick - like my experience while working under the Teamsters.

EDIT: SO FUNNY that those who mentioned jobs being sent overseas are so naive about the damage their last president did to this country in that regard and are clamoring to bring his wife back for more of the same

Do these people pay no attention whatsoever or, what?

Your assumptions are incorrect. You categorize an entire group of people on a whim - just your perception. As a liberal, I hope corporations and businesses do great and the American economy gets stronger. Many of us have lots of money invested in the stock market in IRAs or 401Ks or 403Bs and rely on the American spirit of capitalism to see us into our retirement.

I think you mistake a desire for corporate responsibility with hatred. The bottom line is important but responsibility to environmental issues, labor issues, shareholder rights, product safety and international trade count for a lot with us.

It's not the actual corporations, it's the people who run them.

It's the greed.

It's the people who make $100 million a year and then turn around and pay $6,000 for a shower curtain and then say it's a business expense.

It's the people who get paid millions of dollars, get health benefits and then fight tooth and nail to not provide the same for their workers.

It's the people who spend the pensions of their employees.

How can you say most liberals despise corporations and business? I think your assumption is horribly false.
Even if say 1 out of 5 liberals hated all businesses and corps. which I think is still way high. That is still not even close to most. I don't know anybody actually who hates all corporations and businesses.
I do know the majority of people whether liberal or conservative hate corporations and businesses that rip people off and use illegal tactics to make there money. Or squirm out of paying taxes by using several of an innumerable amount of loopholes they have.

I am a red-blooded, very liberal, Liberal. I work for a major department store chain. And, yes, I am not too fond of the company....

They are trying to buy-out and/or lay off all of the older workers, especially those who are at or near the top of their pay range. They have cut everyone's hours, and they are hiring many, many young people at minimum wage--people who have no clue about service to the public. They are so "cheap" in an effort to increase the bottom line, that they have cut out paper shopping bags, ordering from other stores, free shipping (which we used to do if we were physically out of the item in-store), and I hear we might go to check-out stands and shopping carts...ARGH! These and many more changes are in order to be "profitable" to the stockholders--and damn the public!

I don't like it, and most of my co-workers feel the same, but we all need food and shelter.....

nicely, it basically takes an afternoon for that valuable entrepreneur to pass down the tubes, and lose all and each thing. Then what? be careful what you brag approximately. I as quickly as knew a guy who bathed in champagne, and the subsequent time I observed him he became washing his face and palms from out of a dirt puddle. i don't despise all and sundry, yet I do shake my head at lack of understanding.

Most liberals do not despise corporations and business. But most American citizens are tired of corporations and huge businesses controlling our government over the people's rights today. Most American citizens would like to have our government back. And, we're tired of paying for corporate welfare for the oil corporations, the military industrial corporate complexes profiteers, the pharmaceutical corporations, and other huge corporate welfare give aways in the form of earmarks. I hope this clears things up for you.

BTW, I've worked for enough fortune 500 corporations enough to know that you're just a number to them. And, they are more than willing to cut your pension and health care for someone in india. And, alot of other Americans have found that out too.

They work at non profits, family businesses, environmental causes, own their own business, etc. There are lots of jobs that are not for large corporations. They don't hate all large corporations either. Only the one's that pollute the environment, send jobs overseas, or pay terrible wages. If they treated their employees fairly and were good human beings we would have nothing to discuss.
