i dont want to be like my mom. i love her...ALOT, but she does drugs, shes never around, she doesnt listen to me that much...and i dont feel i can talk to her about anything. now dotn say go call defax, my dad is awsome and is always around. and my mom does some nice things for me...but am i a bad person for not wanting to end up like my mother.

Sweety, I have the same situation as you do, but with my brother. The scary thing is he and I are a lot alike. I don't want to end up like him either though. I'm sure I will turn out just fine if I don't do drugs or anything like that. It doesn't make you a bad person at all, I can tell you're not a bad person. You said so yourself that you love her a lot, and that's really all that matters.

No, of course not. If your mother does all that stuff and you know its wrong, you are doing the right thing by not wanting to be like her. Of course you love her but it doesn't mean you have to want to be like her. There's nothing wrong with being who YOU want to be. Try your best to change your mom into becoming a better person, maybe you can set up an intervention and try to stop her from using drugs. Tell her how much she is hurting you emotionally by doing all that stuff. Also try and get your dad to talk to her.

Don't think that. Your mother has obviously made some bad decisions... You love her, but you don't want to have a bad life like her... That doesn't make you a bad person at all!!!
Take this as a lesson for later choices in life.
Don't do drugs
Love your children and be there for them.
I'm sure your mother loves you,
she just has a hard time making good decisions.

It isn't the way that you have to be like ur mother to be with her.
Plz if she is doing all that stuff what did u do to stop her.What kind of kid are who can't even help his mother.
Try n convince her to avoid these drugs and all and go to market or something of that sort with ur mother so that she may not remember those drugs.
Keep her so much busy in one or the other way around.

No, you are a very smart person. You have learned from her mistakes. Your family should set up an intervention to tell your mom how much you all love her and how much she is hurting you and herself by doing drugs. You could also write to www.drphil.com

No, it's not bad my girlfriend has a mother like that and she turned out fine and is nothing like her. You should try to improve on your parents behavior dropping the bad things and taking the good things. It's ok to want to be different from your parents everybody does in one way or another.

no,you are not a bad person.its great that you still love your mom so much after all that.try to express your love for her by trying to help her and talk her out of drugs and all that.tell her and show her how much it all hurts you and how much you love her and want to help her.it absolutely normal you dont want to ruin your life by ending up like her,it doesnt mean you dont love her

No. Every kid sees traits in their parents they don't want to pass on, even your parents did that with their parents. You love plenty of things about your mom and would be glad to pass those on, but everybody has their faults, and we all try to stop them right where they started...

no. why would that make you a bad person? it makes you an honorable person imo. and all that stuff dont mean your mom is a bad person. drugs make people change from who they really are. maybe she just dont know how to be a mom.
