Unlikely Linux has some problems with video cards. I installed Ubuntu and Freespire, but they had problems with it.
Reformat the linux partition and install it again. I have a feeling that you are using ubuntu, then here's a forum. It might help.

I used to have all sorts of hassle on Ubuntu (Linux) with graphics cards until I came across a great program that Alberto Milone's wrote called Envy (only works with ubuntu, debian and Linux Mint at present).
Just download it, run it with 'sudo dpkg -i envy_0.9.7-0ubuntu3_all.deb'
and install the nvidia driver as prompted on screen.
I have installed ATI and NVIDIA cards with this no problems at all.

you should have the driver cd that came with the card. try installing the linux driver from the cd if youcan't find it go to nvidia's web site and downloading the latest linux driver and installing it
