Ok, I am black, I was in a chat room. And the people there were bashing me about being black, they said how dumb black people are and how we rob stores and they said the n word a couple of times. I feel like crying because that has never happened to me before and I feel like i dont no, I had some kind of special trust in white people that they dont do things like that anymore. I was under the impression that things like that did not happen these days. And now I feel bad, I am 15 and I am attracted to boys who are white and now I feel like my hope of finding a white boy I like is over. I feel like becoming like my friends and as they say frequently staying away from whites. But inside I still think that its just these individuals who would say things like this not white people in general. Because I am a loving person, I love everyone and it hurts me sooooooo bad to think people would talk about me like that for something I cannot help. Please help me, I am so confused....

Sweetheart, just think for yourself. Those people on that chat site are not a part of your life. Relax, treat people the way you want to be treated or ignore them. Your true love will come around some day.

These people are so insensitive for crying out loud she's 15!!!!!!!
Anyway, well I'm not much older than you I'm 18 years old. I'm starting to see the real world now. I have NEVER been exposed to any racism like this until I came on yahoo answers. I was apalled at how people think of us.
That being said all I can tell you is keep your head up, live your life, and be the best person that you can be. Don't live up to those stereotypes. I know I don't. I just completed high school and am on my way to college. I will make sure that I strive for excellence and live a decent life with NO help from the government. Heck, that's how I'm living anyway...
Realize that not all white people are racist. The ones that are would never say those things to your face because they are cowards.
God Bless you!!!! Make your haters your motivators!

Jasmine the human heart, regardless of race, creed or color, has a terrible ability to be wicked; and that hasn't changed. I am really sorry this took place; but in this world maybe you need a little edge on your trust. There are a lot of heartless people out there and white boys can rank near the top.
On the other hand I wouldn't want to see you take this event and back off like some of your friends. We all lose when this happens. Sounds like you have been raised right.
Now I'm white as they come; but I think you need to take that statement by Martin Luther King and apply it to all boys. You measure them, not by the color of their skin, but by their character.
Don't join those people in their lost confusion. People who don't know a loving heart are most horribly confused. Don't share their confusion. Cry a little if you must, then stand up and move right on. The Lord of life has better things for you.

Unfortunately, people like that exist everywhere in nearly every society. The Internet gives people a sense of security so that they say things they wouldn't say in real life, because they figure nobody will ever know who is really saying those things. Sometimes you can report them--like, if you know their chat name, you can report what they said to the website that runs the chat room and they can send that person a warning or even ban them. But it might not do any good because they can just register under a new name. Some people make a game of it.
Anyway, don't lose hope in all white people just because some are stupid and bigoted. I used to live in a big city where I saw all kinds of interracial relationships--black and white, white and Mexican, white and Asian, black and Asian, you name it--so that means there are lots of people for whom skin color doesn't matter when it comes to love.

Jasmine, I'm a white man so I can't really relate to what its like to be black. But I'm also a 54 year old gay male, so I do know something about how people can be...including how hurtful they can be. Some people are nice and some aren't. Some are misguided. Some are insensitive. Some are just stupid. Most people will generally try to do the right thing, even if they occasionally fail. One thing I know for certain: As hard as it is to deal with hateful people, its still worth it just to find the ones who are genuinely nice and good. Don't give up. Please.

I feel empathy for you. Although I am white, I hope my words will have a positive impact.
I have never understood why races of different colors become attracted to one another. I am not speaking just about the black people, but also the Orientals, Latinos,Indians, etc.
During my younger days( I am not going to tell you exactly how old I am, but I can tell you I am over 30), I never heard of different races getting together romantically. I was satisfied to look at boys within my own race. White people are just as rude( or as nice) as any other race. So, its not just racial.

Please don't waste ur time over ignorant, red-neck hicks that don't kno any better. I'm very sorry u had to find out this way that racism still goes on.
However, this doesn't mean that u should hate all white people becuz of what a few stupid ones did. U should still continue to be the loving and caring person that u say u r. And remember:

aw I'm really sorry you ended up in such a crappy chatroom, but you know, people in chatrooms have less respect (for anyone, regardless of gender/ethnicity) than they would in person. It's the whole anonimity/"group IQ is divided by 500" thing.
Please don't think all white people are like this. Besides being untrue, it keeps the whole racism cycle alive.
Your hopes aren't dashed, there ARE white people who aren't racist (like a lotta people will tell you besides me I'm sure), just ignore the idiots who say otherwise and treat you badly, they aren't worth your or anybody's time. Keep the love for people who treat you with respect, it shouldn't matter how they look or where they come from...
Finally, I truly hope also that racism is on the decline.

The America of today would like you to believe that racism is all but gone, but it's still alive and kicking.
Racism is pretty widespread, but there are plenty of white people who aren't like that, too. Those people you met were jerks. Don't worry about them, be proud of yourself, and keep on loving...you sound like a good person. :)
I was about your age when I saw all of this stuff for the first time. There were no white people in my neighborhood, and when I finally got online and wound up talking to some, they said stuff like that.
I'm 16 now, btw...you should try hard to brush it off and not become as bitter and self conscious as I am. Please don't cry, okay?

Some people haven't evolved. Believe me, there's plenty of us white people that rob stores and say the n word too. But being an old white guy, what have I done with my life? Being a young black girl, what are you going to do with yours? That's what matters...
