O_o? americans always try to play themselves as from somewhere else... why is that? are they ashamed of being called white?

and no angry answers please... i am just very confuse.. cause most people i know who are born in america, always try to pass as some other nationality

thanks!

I love the fact that I am an American and that I am white!!! I feel that as a White American I have the world by the tail. I think what you are seeing is everyone tries to hold on to their family history. It is important to know what your family did and where they came from. I have a Royal line in my family and because of this I have dealt with a blood issue that goes with it. I have stories about when some of my ancestors were married off to different kings or Kings that got different wives and it is rather intresting. The bottom line is we all started at the cradle of civilization in the Fertile Crescent. We can be proud of being a White American and still hold on to the knowledge of where our Ancestors came from. They are a part of our family tree and it is always fun to know where the family traveled first to get here. Face it, this is the Greatest Nation in the World, who would not want to be an American?? And since being white is becoming such a rare thing, we are a minority and we should be getting special treatement soon. So koodos to us!!!!!

Well, I guess they might just say this maybe because of the EXCUSE of a president guy with all the terrible things he has and is doing in office. BUT I will also say that I AM an AMERICAN and I SAY THIS PROUDLY. As a matter of fact I wear for the most part nothing but Jeans and a t-shirt. There is something on every t-shirt I wear. On 98% of them it is something like and eagle, or a flag or something to do with veterans.

I am 50% Cherokee Native American and 50% German. I am lucky not be a mutt from numerous different nations.

I was born and raised in America and am okay with that. I don't have any friends that seem to have a problem being born and raised in America.

Maybe the people are just trying to share their heritage with you and you are over dramatizing the whole situation.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. I myself am proud to be American and I'm proud to be white. Now I'm sure a lot of people will read my answer and be like "OMG he's a racist."
No I'm not a racist, I'm just proud of my race, i don't put down or belittle any other races, I'm not like that. But to answer your question i guess some people aren't proud to be American because the U.S.A isn't doing so great. Now I don't support the war, I'm sick of seeing fellow Americans die, but i salute all of those who volunteer because they're clearly proud of their country and I'm proud of that. Now to answer the subject of being afraid of white pride. People are afraid to be proud to be white because folks from all races, even whites, give those who are proud to be white crap that they are racist but just because they're proud doesn't mean they belittle or disrespect other races. Anyone who belittles a race other than their own is a racist (that's similar to the official definition). So by being proud that I'm white, I'm purely stating that I'm plenty happy with where I am and i don't try to be something I'm not.

Well, I am Canadian and I was born in Newfoundland and I am not ashamed of it. I do't get it either. I can't tell you why unless they are bored of being just plain white people whos ancesters came from somewhere else and they want to be different as well.

We aren't ashamed of being any ethnic race of Americans. We are just proud of our heritage. America is called the "Melting Pot" because we are so diverse in cultures and races. I am a proud American.
