I sold a brand new instrument on ebay. the buyer bought it using buy it now and when she got it, claimed it wasn't what she wanted *i think she just changed her mind about it* so she opens a dipsute. of course paypal wen in her favor, but the item can damage, i'm not even sure if it is playable. it was clear to me that paypal was not responding to anything i sent in dispute. not even my calls or emails to support. i doubt if i opened a nother claim against the buyer that they would do anything, even though i have pictures. I took off my credit cards and bank info ahead of time so they couldn't auto withdraw it.

Point is, i now have a negative balance. it's only a little over 50$, will paypal take this to collections if i dont pay it? or do they charge interest fee? has anyone been thru something similar?

i feel so stupid for not reading their TOS more carefully or all the anti-paypal sites and blogs ...

First off, Paypal can come after you and will most certainly charge interest if the TOS allow for it. It sounds like Paypal does not want to get involved in this mess, who can blame them? They want you two to settle this on your own.

Try contacting the buyer. Ask them if they insured the instument when they sent it back to you. If they did, explain the damage and ask for their help in filing the claim. If they failed to insure the shipment, you will need to file a claim against the buyer in small claims court.

A common scam and why you would agree to do anything like this is beyond me. NOBODY is going to give you FREE money for doing nothing. You go to the police and make a report. But the chances of you getting anything or even a prosecution is nill to none. He will be gone by the time you get the report filled out But you have to start somewhere
