He's the starting first baseman for the Kia (Gwangju) Tigers in the Korean Baseball League. The Tigers enticed him back to his hometown with the largest contract in KBL history, although I'm not sure why...didn't seem like anybody anywhere else wanted him! He joined the team in June but started out on the DL. He's finally showing signs of coming alive as he's hit a bunch of home runs since the Korean all-star break, but the Tigers are still mired in last place. While I have nothing against "The Big Choi" Kia kind of ticked me off because they released my favorite American player over here, former KC Royal Larry Sutton to make room for Choi. Oh well, Larry is hopefully in a better place now hahaha.

Yup, you might want to study the difference in North and South Korea. Choi is in South Korea.

He plays in his native Korea. He didn't make my Rays in Spring Training so he opted to go back home. If you can't make the Rays then your career is pretty much done.
