a "surge" for what?
So they find a few weapons. Everyone in Iraq has weapons. Sort of like here in the U.S. 'cept we have licenses; some anyway.
So what is this "SURGE" anyway?
anyone know?

A tactic to buy more time, now they are backing up the report until November on how the "surge" is progressing.

It has come to a breaking point with the manpower. 3 and 4 tours...extensions of duty from 12 to 15 months. Can you imagine living in a combat situation, under stress for 24 hours a day...7 days a week for 15 months..and then get called back for a second, third or fourth tour ?

The surge cannot be maintained, only a political solution will work for Iraq, not a military one.

The Surge was a 5% increase in the number of forces we had in Iraq, along with a minor shuffling of how those forces were distributed.

It was the closest the Bush regime could come to actually trying to change the direction we were heading -- by pushing even harder down the same old course.....

And that 5% increase in troops was met by a 25% increase in the rate of violence (# of deaths per month).

The surge is supposed to be a larger number of U.S troops. A troop surge exactly. Larger show of force so that the Iraqi insurgency will back off all their shananigans. I personally think it's bullshit, it's just one of those crappy ideas the Bush Administration has conjured up to keep us over there and make it look like things are getting better.

It's Bush's way of proving he's not bright enough to stop digging when he finds himself in a hole. Instead he digs faster.

It'd be funny except people are dying.

Something new to try since things weren't/aren't going well, and the people in charge are clueless.
