in Pennsylvania with my boyfriend. Everytime I bring up his share of responsibilities he picks petty arguments with me and starts becoming extremely hostile. He claims that he's not hitting me...but he's pulling me off the couch...bed... pulling me and basically manhandling me when I try to ignore confrontation. Both our names are on the lease. I want to take over the apartment and he says he's staying here... he doesn't want to leave since his name is "on the lease". I want to talk to management tomorrow and explain to them my situation. I hope they ask him to leave b/c I bought everything in here and right now he's just coasting and became extremely moody since we moved in. Yesterday he was arguing to me about not eating waffles he had bought... He resurfaces this argument 2 hours later pulling me out of the bed and preventing me from leaving the apartment. He actually called the cops and left. They came I was standing there looking stupid... I am a teacher and I can't live with this

Honestly, I would find a new place to live and try my best not to let him find out where that place is. You would be better getting them to take your name off the lease, and getting out. You will be safer in the long run and have less to think about, rather than worrying about him showing up, having extra keys to get into the apartment, or calling the home number.

Violence tends to escalate and forcing him to move out may just make the situation worse by forcing a confrontation. You would be better off just removing yourself from the situation and hoping he gets on with his life as well.

Talk to the townhouse management, get out of the lease, get some pepper spray, leave while he's gone or at work, hire someone to help you move out all of the stuff you bought, and never look back.

I would make management aware of your situation and your desire to keep the townhome ALONE. I wish that you had explained the situation fully to the police officers while you had them there. They might have been able to start a documented history of abuse and also might have had some good advice for you. You may have sufficient grounds for a restraining order which should keep him away from you and your home.

SHAKES THE CLOWN has the answer...get the heck out of there.....take your name off the lease (if possible)...and move when he is not there...you need to be safe and healthy.
