Yes, it is really a shark. It just doesn't hunt prey the way most other sharks do. It cruises the oceans filtering tiny animals and other organic matter from the seawater.
Its the largest fish in the ocean, reaching a length of 12 meters or more (the largest recorded one was 12.65 meters or 41 feet long and weighed more that 21.5 tonnes or 41,500 pounds).

Yes the whale shark is really a shark. The main reasons that it's called a whale shark is that it has some characteristics similar to a whale. It is the largest of all sharks (so size is a huge aspect here), it feeds chiefly on plankton (just like a whale) though it may eat sardines and anchovies. Basically like whales the shark is one that won't ever harm a human. But meanwhile...it's still a shark.

Yup, it really is a shark. It got it's name because it is as big as a whale. It is also a filter feeder, just like a whale.

yes it is...and its the biggest shark too...but its not one of those sharks that kill ppl they are nice sharks lol...and they filter feed soo dont worry about teeth in them they are kinda like a humpback whale
