the left accuses bush of trying to scare people into thinking we need the patriot act, blah blah blah. but what about the left trying to scare america into thinking that america is a third world country with 50% unemployment and a billion % this and that. to them, america is sooo poor and we all need to pay 120% of our income to the government.

Fear is a great sales tactic, remember duct tape and plastic to ward off biological attack. This administration is destroying our country and our relationships with other countries. The war is putting us into debt that our children and grandchildren will be paying off. The patriot act is just the erosion of the constitution, allowing good Americans to be spied on. Thomas Jefferson said "dissent is patriotic".

You are exagerating the left's positions.

Most of us lefties are focused upon getting our troops out of Iraq, a war that we were lied into by Bush. We now are seeing our troops sacrificed in the middle of a civil war and Bushco continues to mis-read the situation and to mis-manage the occupation.

I've never heard anyone left or right use 50% unemployment, nor have I ever heard any lefty call for our paying 120% of our income to taxes.

I think that most Americans are going to ask themselves whether they are financially better off after 8 years of Bush. That answer coupled with the debacle in Iraq will pretty much insure Dem control of both houses and the Presidency in '08.

Thank God. There is such a thing as devine justice.

Wait one second. Blah blah blah? So you push our argument to the side like it is nonexistent first of all. Second, why are you just pushing facts to the side...% of this and that actually means something and I am not sure if those are the exacts numbers but yes there are percentages based off of facts. Why do you bash facts as if they mean nothing? Third, you provide no source to back up those numbers and fourth to get out of the national debt every single man woman and child in the U.S. would have to give the government $29,477.38...and I have a source for that one too.

america is on its way to becoming a third world country. Look a the definition of such a country and then look at the facts here in the USA.

A disappearing middle class, and a rising lower class...is proof positive.

You are talking about the socialist faction of the Democratic party, which things one of the main roles of the federal govt is to spend money. Which, incidently, is also the view of the current neo-conservative leadership of the Republican party.

The only real difference is that the Democrats want to tax now for their spending now, and the Republicans want to tax later (borrow on credit, increase the debt) for their spending.

Don't blame the entire liberal movement, many of whom are NOT Democrats and don't want federal spending. It's not a single-spectrum left-right split.

This is actually the other political axis, with the capitalist liberals and the fiscal conservatives joining the libertarians at one end -- and the neo-cons joining the Democrats in wanting big govt spending.

If you are going to make nonsensical comments like that you should at least get some verifiable facts to back them up. Oh yeah, you should also work on how to structure a sentence and a question that indicate a past education on your part.

no liberal i know says the u.s. is a third world country, nor do they say unemployment is at 50%. america is in deep debt however, due to the iraq war. if you looked at the facts, you would know this. unfortunately, liberals are the only ones that do.

as for the taxes, liberals believe that the rich shouldn't get tax breaks, which is correct; they shouldn't
