I think I have a computer virus...everytime I try to go to a popular website such as myspace it redirects me to some crappy site and I get like 6 pop-ups as well. Eventually it will let me go to the correct website but only after cliking on the link 3 or 4 times. I used my virus scanner and it is not detecting anything. How the heck can I find this and get rid of the bad file(s).

It may not be a virus. Instead it may be spyware, adware, malware... Is your antivirus updated? Yes? Well, if that is the case, download, install and run Spybot - Search and Destroy. It's a free program and it may get you rid of that. Good luck!

EDIT: Hello again. I've just seen your second message. If you use Spybot you won't need to go searching on the files or anything which can be complicated, it'll take care of it for you (of course, you have to say you agree to fix the problems).

First, disconnect from the Internet. Then restart into Safe mode and then try running the Antivirus scan. U can download the below s/w on a differnt PC and then install in ur PC and run a full scan.

Use ccleaner, to clean the junk registry entries and also the cookies n other crap. Uninstall any rogue software, which u have not installed.
Use a good AV like Avast and also Spybot Search and DEstroy for good protection against Antivirii n Spyware...

All above programs can be got at filehippo.com...

What virus software are you using? If the software doesn't pick it up, either it's not a good one, or it's not a virus but some kind of program that got automatically installed, but doesn't register as a virus. Try going through your program files and look for anything unusual. If you doubt your virus protection, download AVG Virus free. Maybe a registry problem? Though I doubt it. Sorry I couldn't help more.

I doubt it is a computer virus.
More likely than not it has more to do with the site you are accessing. Many have a bad habit of brandishing there users with all of that crap. That is the reason you dont visit them, it just isn't worth all that crap,
