Is it same old same oh or same o same old? Amd where did the saying come from?

That's interesting enough that I'm going to the books for a factual answer.....back in a bit.

Okay, here we go. It did not begin as Same Ole, Same ole. The earliest version I can find is a workman's complaint on the day they are being paid. There accents sounded near to Same ole, same ole, but what they were saying was Same Old, Same Hold, about the money employers would hold out to pay for the "expenses" the company would charge the workman.

ole is more or less slang for "old". The phrase is "Same Old". As in "the same old thing" - doing something that you've always done. If you have a ham sandwich for lunch every day for a year, and someone asks "what's for lunch?" You could reply "oh, same old..." as in "the same old sandwich for lunch"
