He is not a buffoon because a buffoon is funny and the way he keeps shooting himself in the foot is way past funny. Now the poor doctor arouses Kev's suspicions even more - why? Because he can't wait to get the hell out of a country where he has been kept in solitary and mistreated to see his new daughter. His alternative? To stay here under house arrest and then be deported anyway. Kevin, you're a disgrace and you have brought Australia into international disrepute.

The whole sorry saga has also exposed how dangerous the "anti-terror" laws are - any ordinary citizen can be kept locked up in shocking conditions for a month or more while the police trump up evidence against them. Shame on the whole bloody lot of them.

I think he is just caught in the middle of an election stunt. The liberals want to be scene that they are protecting Australia so that is why there is so much interest in this case. It begs the question though if the Dr was of bad character how did he get into Australia in the first place? I think the governments scare tactics have backfired on him so of course he is looking like a buffoon now.

Andrews is an idiot. He locked Haneef up for nearly a month on the most spurious of charges. While he was in gaol, Haneef's wife gave birth to a new baby in Bangalore. As soon as he was freed, Haneef was on the first plane home to see his wife and new child. Andrews thinks this is "deeply suspicious".

Lack of intelligence has never been a barrier to becoming a minister in a Coalition Government.
