Goose Gossage barely missed this year and Bert Blyleven should be in already. They'll get in next year. Mattingly should be in too.

there will not be a first ballot pick next year. this is one of the weakest first ballot classes ever.
goose will get in
and so will
bert "be home" blyleven
it's a joke that big mac wasn't a first ballot guy. his career avg wasn't great, but it's damn good. he's won world series, mvps and near 600 jacks. it's a joke writers didnt' put him in.
and that hawk dawson isn't in??? wtf? and i'll even go as far as jack morris. he was the best pitcher in the game from 1980 to 1993. no one won more games. it seems like the only way a pitcher can get in is with 300 wins. eff that. dominating a decade and helping 3 teams win world series?????????? put jack in.
and next time the vet committee meets, if ronnie santo and buck owens don't get in, the hall will have proved to be BS.

There aren't any shoo-ins among next year's first ballot players; Tim Raines has a decent shot, but I don't see him going in on the first ballot.
Because of the lack of no-brainer first ballot picks, I think we'll see at least one previously neglected player make it in. Goose Gossage came close in '07 (71%, out of a required 75%), so I think 2008 will probably be his year.

If I had a ballot, my 2008 return would read: Gossage, Raines, Blyleven, McGwire.
And mmmmaaaaaaaaybe Rice.

hopefully Ron Santo can finally get inducted, he really deserves it not only was he a quality 3rd baseman but he also battled with diabetes while he played which made it that much harder for him
