As bladesinger wrote, HIPAA (a common mistake, HIPPA) covers data security. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Most (all reputable) medical application programs include encryption sufficient to meet HIPAA requirements.

The more general answer would be encryption--I think, but without knowing your concern, or issue/context it is hard to know.

This is a very ambiguous question. HIPPA covers requirements for data security and protection of patients.
