Being able to write letters without having any stamps.
You can make all the fancy ideas you want, but without the printer how do you show them to someone else? Drag them home to look at your screen? You can email them, but they are still virtual.

Any printer will work on a PC/lappy and you should get a CD to install the software for it. I use a ink-jet printer as its cheaper than a Lazar and give gd results. I recommend a ink-jet myself. I have HP Deskjet F380 which has a built in scanner and had no problems in setting up the software, just a case of inserting the CD into the CD ROM drive and away it goes.

Personally I hardly ever use my printer. I have one, but at one time we didn't, so we had to make do. Once you get used to not having one it's not so bad at all. Not good with metaphors, but I wouldn't say it's anything like a car without wheels. More like...getting over an addiction.

basically sucks. Even though I don't use it so often, I need it for so many times when i don't have a printer... it's like.. do or die. So if you don't have a printer.. you can go buy one for 40 bucks at Best buy. Lol.

Printers aren't necessary everywhere anymore. A lot of companies have workers submit all or most documents through email.

Well, it depends on your need. Others don't need to print anything, while others need a lot to print...
But I guess it is better to have a printer. It;s like having an oven and a pan, so that I can bake a cake...lol
