I'm 16, but I often get mistaken for someone in my 20s. I don't really understand this because I'm 5'0 and pretty thin and have no chest, but for some reason people think I'm older. I think it's my face. How do I make myself LOOK 16?

I barely wear any makeup as it is, and the reason I dres "conservatively" in these pictures is because they're from events that I had to dress up for (not the first). I usually wear summery dresses or shorts.

Here are a few beauty tricks that will make you look younger with just a sweep of a blush brush or mascara wand.

1. Keep your hair between your chin and your shoulders. Side-swept bangs and hair no longer than your shoulders will take off years. Find out why in this article on the most flattering haircuts on women.

2. Lipstick shade can age you Another trick to looking younger is to steer clear of brown lipstick shades. Avoid matte lipstick as they tend to settle into your lip lines. Instead, try creamier lipsticks or glosses. (Glosses are especially youthful and make your lips appear bee-stung). Here are 15 more lipstick tricks and tips .

3. Stick to creamy blushes and shadows Older skin usually means dry skin so creamy blushes and shadows are optimal. Also, powder blushes and shadows tend to settle into your fine lines and wrinkles, whereas creamier products 'plump' up your skin.

4. Define those eyes Curled lashes immediately make eyes 'pop.' One tip I love I learned from the editors of Allure: You can curl your lashes AFTER mascara application, just make sure the mascara has dried. I find lining my eyes helps make my somewhat tiny eyes look 10 times larger. I never leave the house now without a bit of eyeliner on both upper and lower lashes (smudging the line makes it look more natural) and mascara.

5. Don't overpluck Once you hit your 30s, you'll want to be careful not to overpluck your eyebrows since brows are less apt to grow back if you excessively pluck. Find out what you can do to remedy overplucking.

6. Get your teeth lightened Over time, teeth may yellow from coffee, tea or red wine stains. You can whiten teeth quickly with over-the-counter products such as Crest Whitestrips.

7. Stand up straight. Think about all the sexy women you know. They stand up straigtht and confidently. Not only will this make you look ten pounds thinner in seconds, it will make you look five years younger as well.

8. Get a good night's sleep Few things age you overnight more than a poor night's sleep. Your eyes are puffy, your skin sallow and dull and your face sags.

Your a pretty girl. You dress nice. Maybe thats why everyone thinks you look older. Try wearing more t-shirts (you can still wear cute t-shirts, it doesn't have to be big loose fitting ones) and jeans and don't use makeup. Another idea is maybe put your hair in a pony tail or cut some bangs. Your hair style makes you look older too. But I wouldn't worry about looking older. Just act your age and don't give in to the older guys and you should be fine!!! Best wishes!

I'm 15 and going into my junior year, but no one would guess that because I look younger. Well, I am young for going into 11th grade, but anyway. Don't wear make up i you don't really have to (dates, etc.). Don't dress older than you are. If I were to guess I would say 16, and I don't think you look like you're in your 20's. However, tone down the makeup and maybe dress down sometimes to look younger. Otherwise, it's nice to look older than you are for a lot of reasons, so just enjoy it!

I saw someone say you have ugly style but i'm familiar with the seasons trends and don't worry you're style is fine .. I always though shorter hair made you look younger so maybe you'll look younger with longer hair(: try the jessica simpson human hair extentions (clip ins) at hsn for 500 but ebay for about half the price or less & you can dye them if it doesn't match .. but if you're not into that, then don't wear alot of makeup becaue that will enhance your eyes and make you pop more, therefore of course making you look older ! but i think you're a very pretty girl and you look about 17 or 18, but i mean there's nothing really other to do then dress how you like, don't wear alot of makeup, and grow out your hair ! Good luck.

Judging from the photos, I think you look like a highschooler, 18 at the most, but a few tips::: wear cute, young looking clothes, and use fresh, light, fun makeup colors. You might want to go going for a little makeover at a Sephora store or local beauty counter, they should be able to give you step by step instructions as well as products that will give you a young, fresh look.

You're beautiful. Don't worry about your look too much. You have a mature look about you. I think that's what people are seeing. It's not so much your physical look. But if you want to change something you might try changing your hair. Just tell the hair stylist that you want something young looking. I think that might help.

You're so cute. I've never heard of anyone at your age upset about looking older. It seems the young ones generally always want to look older and the older ones always want to look younger. :-) Well. I hope that I helped. Good luck

your very pretty. your features are indeed a bit refined for your age. the things that can make you look younger are letting your eyebrows grow longer, and also getting a more short cute haircut. go to a professional and explain to the hairstylist that you want to look your age. hair can change the way you look and act big time!
also natural makeup is better for people of a young age.

^^ you will grow into your features and become a beautiful young woman. you only have 2 more years to go to get there.

What is wrong with looking older? My best friend is 19 and she looks like she is in her mid 20s when she dresses up and wears a decent amount of makeup.

I think you look about 18, and you look great!
You are very pretty, nice hair, great face, slim and proportioned.
Good makeup; flattering, fashionable clothes. You just don't wear trendy crap that everyone tells us is in style.
You already have a style, and it suits you well!
I do suggest experimenting with hair - part, bangs, length - to see how it would look!
My sons [ 18 and 23 ] and nephew [ 23 ] think you are beautiful.

i have the same prob, since i was younger even. i am 22 but everyone seems to guess at least 28 for me. it drives me nuts. i dont wanna look/be any older than i already am!
unfortuantely, u happen to have a more mature looking face. the fact that you wear your hair nicely groomed and down makes you look more mature too. try putting it in funky updo's, regular ponytails, tease it up a little bit. you can even keep your little "swoop" of bangs you have:) you really can only do that, it really does make people look younger when they wear a simple ponytail or updo.
