Yes. If we truly recognized the power of our own being (or, said another way, our true worth as human beings) we would not feel inferior to others. Then we could be comfortable allowing them to be themselves without having a need to make them behave in certain ways. If this could ever be accomplished, the world would be a much more peaceful place.

No. Everyone understands the instinct instinctually and participates in both submission and compulsion. Understanding is not signified by control, but by demonstration and mastery. Most who are controlled by others realize it when approaching the subject matter after being compelled to do so. Letting oneself be controlled, then, is a participation, appropriate to Be-ing. Being understands beings. In other words, beings choose "that" or "the other"; Being shows itself by the being making a choice. The "power of their own Being" is immune to control. It would be much simpler to just treat of "controlling", and leave off believing, understanding, and seeking, for future inquiries.

If people truly understood the power of their own being, then they would view others as themselves:

- A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. The true value of a human being is determined by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from inidividual-self. (Albert Einstein, 1954)

- Remember even Jesus said "such are the self-accused?"

No. Those who lust for control will use whatever is available to exercise it. But those who know themselves sufficiently to value their own integrity will value the integrity of others, I believe - so they will no more seek to control than they would accede to being controlled. Then they have real power, because they can lead by helping others to do what is within them to do - and to choose to do what is truly in their own best interests (which is what is in the best interests of all). Of course, it might not always work! But I reckon it's the only way to go.

Yes, when people address their own fears and issues they begin to have more understanding and empathy for others. We become free to let others be free...I am still working on this.
