I'm always thinking about actors and what roles they should play. Is it hard to become a casting person? How can I send my suggestions to those who do casting?

Now if you actually want to become a Casting Director:

Send a resume (office skills, etc) and letter to Casting Directors requesting work as a Casting Intern. You will not get paid, but it is a great way to learn. Here is a great place to start:

Have I made my point? Got it? Good!

Shall I continue? Just do the research and NEVER EVER listen to people who say "It's to hard", or "you can't do it", or who yell things at you like "If you don't have connections it's hard to get your foot in the door. Keep your mouth shut if you want to work in the industry." This kind of advice is PURE IGNORANCE!

You can do anything you set your mind to. Use positive thinking. Do the research and footwork.

I have been in the Screen Actors Guild, American Federation of Television and Radio Artists for over 20 years, am on the SAG Equal Employment Opportunities Committee, and now work for a major studio in Film and Television Production Management. I deal with casting directors all the time.

If you want to become a Casting Director, Just go for it!

But I do agree with one thing: Forget about sending "suggestions" to Casting Directors! That would be like going into a kitchen at a fine restaurant and telling the executive chef how he should be cooking that meal!! LOL

Everyone I know in casting got their job through a connection in the busines. DO NOT, I REPEAT do not, ever tell a casting director or a Talent Agent, how to do their job, unless you NEVER, want to work in this industry!

The agent and Casting Diretors are the PROFESSIONALS NOT YOU.
Talent Agents and Casting Directors were groomed by their respective mentors and know the industry inside and out.
Are you nuts?
The entertainment business is ALL about connections, WHO YOU KNOW.
Yes, it is extremely hard to get a job in casting, because most of the time, the job goes to someone they know, or the friend of someone they know.

If you don't have connections it's hard to get your foot in the door.
Keep your mouth shut if you want to work in the industry. If you get a job in the industry, you will be trained the way the AGENT or Casting Director works, NOT how you want them to work. Got it? Good!

I have a friend that got her job in Casting through a TempAgency.

To: Cedar Circle, sorry about the shouting!

I would listen to NewYorkGal, I've seen her answers to a lot of people and obviously knows what she's talking about - however her reply to you is the first time I've seen her shout at someone. Lol!
