I guess not. Our Founding Fathers allowed the Freedom of Speech when they wrote the Bill of Rights. Even though they hoped for peace and unity in the new country, I think secretly they realized that people would interpret the Constitution differently and divide from there. So no, it's not against the basic fundamentals, it is an necessary evil.

u should check out the libertarian party they are for two things, protecting our civil rights and defending against foreign aggressors. other then that they stay out of our business

Well nowadays their purpose is say exactly what we want to hear to get into power and do what ever they want to do when they get in power regardless what the people who elected them think.i think they all about their LEGACIES nowadays.
